When that time comes, Grandpa Bill will probably just paint over it. Layer upon Layer! :)

Well done, Bob. As a marriage and family therapist myself, and your old childhood buddy, (he was a wonderful little boy!), I must say I encounter many men who are practical in nature, and don't understand things like why a window with blinds might need curtains too. Or, why on earth would anyone put fake shutters on a house? I always side with the women, of course, lol. Just kidding, but I do explain that many women need to nest, and things like wallpaper and curtains, and too many throw pillows, are the feathers in that nest. Men don't have to understand it, they just need to stand aside while we create and form the nest – unless you have a wallpaper phobia or something, but I would be surprised if that was the case. Also, coming to see someone like me to learn some relationship and communication skills is not the worst thing in the world, doesn't spell doom or major problems, but every couple in the world would benefit from it. Trust me that I am certain this is true. Anyway, I enjoyed this article, and cheer you on from our home state of Arkansas!

Luckily, 24 years ago I learned my pool deck cleaners, "Partners In Grime" handled putting up wallpaper, shelves, etc. They are still with me even I no longer own a pool!

We are putting wallpaper in the bedroom that is soon to be a nursery for our twins. Yes, we are. We (Bill) will paper over 2 previous wall colors and the original lovely pink/white, wide stripe Laura Ashley paper, circa 1992. I can't wait. :)

As the hypothetical husband character in my narrative said: knock yourself out! I hope Grandpa Bill will be as enthusiastic about taking it down as he is about hanging it, when Opal and Betsy want something more grown-up in a few years. Good guy that he is, I suspect he will!

Once upon a time I could draw whatever you wanted at a drafting board, but I never learned any CAD.

Fortunately you have your daughter to do the design work. I'm just amazed that you could find someone willing to do such a small job like that. They are near impossible to find around here.

Great post! Wallpaper and I do not get along... it long ago wore out it's welcome. Luckily my wife and I agreed on a "Paint and Pictures Only" policy once we had the last of the wallpaper from the 80's and 90's successfully taken down.
